My wife and I just completed building a custom home with Hachmann's Custom Building (HCB) and we are elated with the results. How often can you honestly say that a work product surpassed your expectations? This has been a great design and build process for us. Since we were building from a distance we knew that we had to trust the judgement and craftsmanship of our builder even more than if we were building locally and could check on the project often. I will limit what can be my effusive praise for HCB to three concepts: creativity, craftsmanship and integrity.
In our discussions with Abe we brought several out-of-the-box creative ideas to him, for example wood planked walls saw-milled from trees taken from our property. Abe and his team took these ideas and made them gorgeously real. If you haven’t seen his signature Hachmann structural support trusses made of Douglas Fir, do yourself a favor and make sure you incorporate some into your plan. They’re solid, authentic and gorgeous.
HCB workers performed the vast majority of the work on our home. They are craftsmen and they take pride in their work. Ingenuity and excellence working together is a beautiful thing. The day before Thanksgiving John and Rob came to our home to hang a 100 pound moose head over our fireplace. Let's just say that project was the family entertainment for the morning. They are artisans, and they are really nice human beings.
We have built two other buildings in our life: our home in Kansas City and the building that houses my practice. I have been blessed to have builders of excellence and integrity on all three projects. Let's be honest there is always stress in the building process as you try to envision all of the eventualities. It is crucial to have someone like Abe that you can communicate with well and that you trust his advice and ultimately his integrity. Abe and Suzette made this a great process for us.
